front speaker placement rule

My room is 15ft wide and I read in a recent Home theater Magazine that the main listening postion should be one third the demension of the room and the front speakers half of that so one sixth. Which means the sitting position at 5 feet and my speakers two and a half off each wall?

Does this logic work in your setup?

I always assumed one would want to be centered between the 2 front speakers for best stereo effect.

I have Klipsch RF-7's for my main speakers.

Any suggestions on another way to go at this setup?

thanks

I would start with the equalateral triangle rule AND start with your speakers about 2 or 2.5' from the back and side walls. Your listening position should be at least the distance between the speakers as between you and each speaker. The old Heritage speakers had a different rule wich was wider and closer. This should put you a little farther back than 5' which seems to close.

Toe the speakers to face the back sides of your head.

You can adjust from their. Putting the speakers close to the walls will boost the bass but perhaps at the cost of image debth.
