Caramelo
Anyone have any opinions on which speaker to go with for my denon receiver? I have the ss-1 and sc-1 speakers already but dont know which fronts to get. My receiver is rated at 105 watts per channel. Someone please help. Will be buying in the next few days. dougdrake
I usually think bigger is better. Unless you have space constraints, go with the SB-3s. Have you listened to the Synergy Towers, like the SF-1, to compare to the bookshelfs?
boa12
yea like doug says bigger is better! the sf-1 are powered towers (powered sub built in). the sf-2 & a good sub may be more to your liking though. a lot depends on your budget & tastes/prefs. but i'd definitely stay in the synergy family for the best timbre/voice matching if you're going to keep your syn center & surrounds (how'd u get those before any fronts anyway?) ------------------ Klipsch KLF 30 (front), KLF C-7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnects & Monster Standard Cable Marantz SR-8000 receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box Boa's Listenin Lounge: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Monster MCX Biwires/Bananas Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (power amp for RF-3) Teac PD-D1200 5-disk cd player Technics direct drive turntable Sega Genesis game player Sub: None yet rock on! dougdrake
Just a clarification...I could be mistaken, but I believe the SF-1 is not a powered tower. I think that would be the SP-1. Doug
Steve Phillips
The SP-1 is the only one of the lot that is powered. I use the KSB 2.1(replaced by the SB-2)in my bedroom HT and love them. That's coming from someone with K-Horns,Heresy C,and 4 KSP-S6's in the other end of the house. The 2.1's are mated with SC-1 and SS-1's,with 2 SW 8 II subs. They are feed by a Denon AVR-2800. Comparing the SB-3 to the SB-2;3 is $100 more for 2 Hz lower,52Hz-54Hz,but the spl is 94dB(3)to 93dB(2). Can't say how they would sound compared to each other. Now if you have $650 the SF-2 would be a nice step up. Anyway just my oppinion, good luck
boa12
oh yea sorry guys & gals i did it again. it is the sp-1 that's powered (hence the P, duh) so imo, the sf-1 & a good sub would i think be the best play for mains in the syn family.
