HornEd
Once a cherished and respected webmaster, BobG has been suddenly relegated to the Boa rank of "No Life"... a shock to all of us who look at our Klipsch time as reflective of the quality of our lives. Obviously, the new system needs more high tech work to retore our beloved webmaster to his former status. On second thought... enjoy the "No Life" BobG... while the rest of us reach for a Miller. Except for Boa, of course! On second thought, BobG, get a life and... fixe thy speall chexer. HornEd

dougdrake
Yes, it seems changes are afoot. For a fleeting moment yesterday, I was a "Disciple" rather than a freak. Not sure which I like more... Doug
HornEd
Hey, Boa, read the instructions... life HAS changed... the has joined the Legends in mortality. You must now type a : and then biggrinn: to get to work. The one that didn't work for me was ~ (which is supposed to stick its tongue out... and may be fixed by now). Oh, and I am not a Miller fan... but their commercials talk about the "High Life" which was hopefully humoursly linked to "No Life." And the non-ractive spell checker is threatening to turn Klipsch prose into broken English spielers. boa12
thanks ed. was still going by the smiles legend which i guess hasn't been updated. high life & miller - u must be as old as i am
HornEd
Probably even older, Boa. Remember when John Madden (of NFL fame) used to pitch beer commercials... well, I was the guy on the football, baseball, basketball, etc. team that also got to tutor John and others to keep them eligible for sports at Jefferson High School... a long time ago. Actually, Red (as we called him... it was that long ago) was really acting in character with the beer commercials. Our football coach was shot across the chest and throat by a Japanese sniper in WWII and had difficulty making himself heard at half-time. Not to worry, John just bounced around, full of psychic energy, exhorting everybody to be better with all the volcanic emotion of one of those commercials. Cheers to ya. HornEd PS: Oh, yeah, and my cake said 63 on it last week.
boa12
ed, maybe they do still have "high life" on the regular miller. i usually go w/ lite in my old age that's something w/ madden. guy's got spirit! where are these new instructions for all these smile things? the smile legend is not accurate anymore i guess (though realize changes being made as we speak). ------------------ Klipsch KLF 30 (front), KLF C-7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnects & Monster MCX biwire & Z-12 cable Marantz SR-8000 receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box Boa's Listenin Lounge: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Monster MCX Biwires Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver Teac PD-D1200 5-disk cd changer Technics direct drive turntable Sega Genesis game player Sub: None yet rock on! HornEd
Boa, I was about to buy a Denon 5800 and thought I woudl stop in the process to ask you why you chose Marantz. I bought another pair of new KLF 30's this afternoon... to use as mains and use the occaisional "bean effects" pair in the "rear." Does your new Marantz allow for front effects speakers... I really like what they do for a RPHD system like mine... allowing the mains to be tight against the monitor for smoother dialogue. If I go ahead an by the Denon 5800 I gain neo 6.1 but loose the front effects capability... unless I buy another amp to accomodate it. I would appreciate any input... quickly! boa12
ed, the marantz i got, the sr8000, is a max 5.1 channel (it doesn't even have B front speaker terminals). i got it 1st for the sound & high current. i thought it sounded more like tube amp seperates than the denon i demoed it against. u may want to check out the marantz sr-18 for that 6.1 or 7.1 that u dig (&, unlike me, obviously have the room for ). definitely consider that denon 5800 too. many dont have that front effects, but w/ the denon 5800, u could run 2 pair of surrounds(A+ plus another pair of rear effects surrounds all from it's powerhouse amp (9.1, well sorta). as far as multi-channel capability, the 5800 is the one. & they sound darn good too. rock n' roll! ------------------ Klipsch KLF 30 (front), KLF C-7, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Monsterbass 400 sub interconnects & Monster MCX biwire & Z-12 cable Marantz SR-8000 receiver Sony DVP-C650D cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Technics dual cassette deck Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box Boa's Listenin Lounge: Klipsch RF-3 (front), RC-3, cheap little Technics (rear) Monster MCX Biwires Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver Teac PD-D1200 5-disk cd changer Technics direct drive turntable Sega Genesis game player Sub: None yet rock on! HornEd
What a great sonic array, red_eye! Your config gives me incentive for my own. I note that you have KLF 30's front and KLF 20's rear and use KSP-S6's on the side... with bass boosts all around... not so far from what I currently use. I use a pair of KLF 30's on the side to get more out of discrete 5.1-6.1 sound sources. Using BabyBoomers to augment your KSP-S6's seems like a solution to both the "ambient" and "discrete" sound issues. How does it stack up for timbre match with your mains on back-to-front pans? I have been leaning toward picking up a pair of the new Klipsch RS-7's but may try another pair of KSF 30's and try to augment them somehow for "ambient" effects program material. Let us know more about your bass management set-up and results. Thanks for the post and keep taking care of your ears. HornEd
Hooray, they have indeed elevated BobG from his Boa "No Life" status to that of a Six-Star Administrator!!! Richly deserved, since BobG has long handled the absurd problems and inane questions with dispatch, aplomb and humor. I had hoped by this original post to provoke some unique BobG humor... and in this I have failed. Perhaps it was because I have authored too many absurd and inane posts. In any event, thanks be to you, BobG, for your thousands of timely interventions to keep this BB on just enough "straight and narrow" to let us enjoy a tad bit of "curvy and broad." Guest BobG
HornEd, thanks for the encouragement. I try to have some fun with this and to offer some (admittedly biased) opinions on audio in general. It has been very rewarding and I will continue to spend as much time here as my lack of life allows. ;-)
