forgop
I have a pair of 3.2's where the active woofer is rattling for higher bass. Is there any way to determine if a repair is possible or do I just have to buy a new woofer?
Guest BobG
Sure. Gently push in on the cone - straight in not on any angle - and determine if there is any scraping, rubbing or any odd mechanical response at all. You should be able to push it till it resists without any sounds or rubs. You can also remove the driver (make note of which color wire goes to the terminal marked positive) and at a Very Low volume, play it outside the enclosure. This is going to allow the woofer to move further back and forth than normal, so keep the power very low. Shouldn't notice any odd sounds when playing. If you do, get a replacement driver at 800-klipsch.
