Buzzing in rear channels

Recommended Posts

I'm getting a faint buzzing sound in my rear channels in my 4.1s. I just go the speakers hooked up and have been listening to some MP3's with the volume knob pretty low (1/4th or so) The sound goes almost completely away if I have my surround knob cranked, it gets louder as I turn the surround knob down. Any ideas? (running an SB Live! Platinum w/ LiveWare 3.0)

I have exactly the same sound from my rear speakers. I find that the noise is loudest with the surround at 12 o'clock (but very similar at minimum volume). Between about 4 o'clock and max volume, the speakers stop emmiting this noise. Tried connecting the set to a portable cd player - it changes to something like a 60Hz hum (probably because the portable player is not grounded like the computer) and is much louder. Not sure what to do about this sound. It is a bit annoying (esp. with the portable cd). Is there a known solution? Is there something wrong with the control pod?

This does sound like it could be a control pod issue, especially since you've tried it with a different device. Did you also try the speakers in a different area of the room to rule out electronic interference? If so, please send me an email about your warranty options...

Thanks,
