ddavenport Posted August 5, 2003 Share Posted August 5, 2003 my denon reciver blew a channel and i wanted to check my CF-4s with a meter to see if they are still good. The tech at the repair shop said they should read 6 to 8 ohms mine read 3.2 ohms i pulled the biamp straps and read 3.2 on lf and open on hf on both speakers since they read the same on both i think their ok but would like some feeback Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
WMcD Posted August 5, 2003 Share Posted August 5, 2003 That seems reasonable. Most of what you're reading on the LF section is the voice coil d.c. resistance. There is probably an inductor in series with it to form the low pass filter. Frequencies from zero (d.c.) up to somewhere around 900 Hz get passed through. The HF section has a capacitor in series with the driver. This is the high pass filter. Frequencies above 900 Hz get passed through. Obviously zero Hz (d.c.) does not.
