hiddenfortress
hey all, when i have the speakers hooked up i'm getting massive distortion, crackles pops etc. when i only have two speakers hooked (either unplugging two speakers from the sub or unplugging one output from my card) up they work fine: clear as a bell. i've swapped the speakers and cables around but i only get distortion when all four are hooked up. also the also i do not get distortion through the headphone jack. please, please, please, anything but RMA
MD1032
Make sure your sound card's set up properly. Make sure your equalizer isn't overtweaked and that you have your leveling set right. If it doesn't work, bad amp. RMA.
Psycho1024
I had the same problem as you on two different Promedia 4.1 systems. The first system lasted two weeks before developing a distortion problem, RMAed it, second lasted 3 months. I still have the second unit cause if I add a fan cooling the back of the subwoofer everything goes back to normal, no more distortion ! Try it, even if the back plate gets only warm, it may help. fatathaland
I have that occcasionally happen with my setup. Usually unplugging the main cord leading from my control unit to my subwoofer and waiting a minute will fix the problem. Other times I've found that the problem is caused by having a "positive" speaker wire in a "negative" clip in my subwoofer. Normally this happens because I have new wires that arent colored red or black like the stock wire. I also think that the subwoofer should have come with a grounding plug.
