Katarn32
I've got my XBOX connected to the optical port on my DD-5.1 and I have the XBOX set to Dolby Digital... but the DD-5.1 just says PCM.. it's not detecting a Dolby Digital signal. If I watch a DVD using the coaxial input it detects Dolby Digital or DTS just fine automatically... anybody know what could be the problem? Sorcerer13
I used to have the S4 Midiland 8200s until they got wrecked when my dorm room got flooded. Anwyay, the 8200s came with an ADS 4000 decoder which support Dolby Digital among other formats. When I hooked them up to my XBOX I noticed that in the dashboard the xbox only put out a pcm signal according to the ADS, but when a game was booted, the signal would change to a Dolby Digital AC-3 signal and the ADS would switch to AC-3 mode. So maybe when a game is booted up, you should shut off and turn back on your DD-5.1 in order to make it refresh itself and determine what signal is being emitted again. I hope this makes sense. Katarn32
Okay so the problem was that I was using the Monster brand products. I did a search on different forums and found that other people had a similar problem and they were also using the Monster brand AV hookup. So I took that back and replaced it with the cheaper Microsoft/XBOX brand AV hookup and it works perfectly. So much for the more expensive "better" Monster stuff.
