dbb
Hey, gang I've posted here before regarding my 7.1 speaker placement dilemas in a 14x14 room; my side RS-3s are in front of the seating area, which is against the rear wall. But I'm having difficulty trying to figure out where to mount the rear RS3s. The guy who did the pre-wire when I built the house placed two junction boxes in the ceiling that was originally intended for the surrounds in a 5.1 setup. The ceiling boxes are immediately to the left and right of the seating area. I thought that maybe I would mount my rear RS-3s there, maybe angling them rearward. Any thoughts on this? What would be a good method of mounting RS-3s on the ceiling. Obviously the keyhole mounts would not work. Thanks!
dougdrake
I have my SS-1s ceiling mounted by the keyhole mounts, but they are only 8 lbs. For your RS-3s, you may need to build some sort of cradle, or perhaps a u-shaped wooden hanger to set them in so they are secure.
htxpert
Hi 4 ea 1" Floor Flange 2 ea 1"x close nipple or whatever lenght gives you two mounts that will swivel 360 degrees these are available in the Home Depot or Lowes plumbing department cost $10 for all the flange has 4 holes in it for screws you should attach them to a ceiling joyce and onto the speaker where the keyhole is so you dont hit the x-over or binding posts inside also a good idea to run a small capture cable inside the pipe and connect it to the speaker Cheers
