gerbache
So I just got a new Hsu VTF-2 subwoofer and am trying to set it up to run with high level inputs. The trouble is that apparently I have a hum problem that's being picked up from the speaker wires on the inputs. I say that because the problem happens anytime the wires a plugged in to the amp and the sub, but it varies with the volume control on the sum. I believe that anytime there's a ground loop, it'll be a constant, regardless of the volume setting, right? Any suggestions for ways to remove this problem? Will Cat-5 be a shielded enough wire to prevent it from picking up much of a hum? If not, anybody got any suggestions for a cheap wire that'll do the trick? dougdrake
If the hum is coming out of the sub driver, and you turn up the volume on the sub amplifier, the hum will get louder (I would think). Try a $.98 cheater plug before you tear your hair out on anything else. DD
