Rdmarsiii
Is there a way you can get SACD on a computer? I really want to hear the SACD version of Dark Side of the Moon... Im not sure if you have to have a program or some kind of encoder or decoder or a compatible soundcard or what...
prodj101
well, if there was a drive that could decode it I think that anything gained in quality over CD would be lost after the signal was passed through the average sound card. But otherwise, no I don't think there is any consumer SACD decoding software/hardware for the computer yet.
Rdmarsiii
Have you heard the SACD version of Dark Side of the Moon? I heard that Eclipse really sucked because at the end you could really tell that the "heartbeat" was really a bass drum.
magnum29
I have the sacd, and it is very good. If you get a chance, check out the DSOM dvd; I think you will appreciate the music even more.
Rdmarsiii
So when I get my DVD player for my computer, will I be able to listen to DVD audio along with DSOM dvd? I dont think any of this will be given any justice with out my new soundcard...
magnum29
DVD audio will not play the pcm high fidelity tracks on a pc. Here's a good site to check: http://www.digitalaudioguide.com/faq/dvd-audio/faq_intro.htm
dougdrake
I believe that one of Creative's sound cards will decode DVD-Audio.

magnum29
Yes, most any dvd player will play DVD-Audio, but it will only be as good as a regular dvd or cd. You need a dedicated DVD-Audio player to get the full fidelity. Both DVD-Audio and sacd disks seem to be failure in sales, I guess for the reason mentioned above.
