TIbor
When a movie like stars wars phantom menace. It says it is dobly digital ex. Is the rear center a discrete signal? On my reciever it says the signal is 3/2/1. Does this means that dobly digital ex is actualy 5.1 with a matrixed rear center or is that discrete channel. RickB
Dolby Digital ex is matrixed. If I remember right, I don't think Star Wars episode one is flagged for 6.1, you have to manually engage it.
TIbor
I looked under audio optioms on the dvd and the only option for audio was dobly digital 5.1ex everything e;se was spanish or french or 2.0 Thanks
avman
DD-EX is a matrixed center rear. my receiver simulates a center rear w/'virtual matrix 6.1'similar to a 'phantom' center channel.in spite of having 'sound-sprayers' as HornEd would say my rear surround ksp-s6's do a convincing job of simulating a center rear w/DD-EX and DTS-ES (which can be dicreet OR matrixed). avman.
