opening up sunwoofer

a) I've seen some people talking about opening the BASH subwoofer -- is it really safe? -- (i.e., is the warning just an extreme precaution from the company?)

--My 4 units don't seem to get anything from the output leads from the Bash -- I connected them directly throu the pod and there is sound -- so I'm thinking to go in there and check --

B) Also, is there a way to overstep the pod, make the connections directly, and just control from the software? -- i.e., will I get the sound by avoiding the little circuits (of the pod)?

Thanks for all the info

Ive opened up mine before and never had a problem. As a matter of fact, I had to fix mine, so thats why I opened them. Its actually a decent site to see. I still dont get what youre trying to do, though. Can you please go into more detail? Thanks

Thanks for answering my first question about the safety.

As I was saying my 4 units wouldnt get anything connected as normal to the bash. So I connected them directly on the pod and they work ok (except for the amplification of course, but the sound is coming throu). But, the sub itself wasnt giving anything out either.. so I found a way by "hacking" the connections on the pod to get the bash also to give sound.

It appears that the pod is faulty, and I was asking if the pod is essential, or could I not use the pod at all and make the connections directly to the bash from the computer

Of course I can try, and I will but any experience or info would be helpfull

You have to have the control pod because it controls everything the amp (bash) does. So your satelitte speakers dont work, and the sub doesnt work, but you hooked the satellites up to the control pod? Did you hook them up to the head phone outlet? If youre not getting anything, then your amp is probably dead. You can send it back to Klipsch (I understand that may be a problem because you live in Greece) there is a sub on ebay right now that will go pretty cheap, if you want to try that. I hope this helps!

Yes I did connect the satellites to the headphone output.

The point is that they work, all of them, the satellites and the sub, but only by making some bypasses as I said and some weird connections on the pod.

But anyhow, I see that the pod is needed. I'll try opening the bash

Thanks

G.

Well, I did try, op-ened it, didnt see anything "interesting" there, closed it again and when I put the plug in i saw a little spark -- I thought nothing since this happens sometimes, and now my subwoofer doesn't workkkkkkk

Mine sparks when I plug mine in too. They dont work? Did you do anything while you were in there? If I were you, I would take it back out and look for anything that looks burnt, check all the connections, make sure that they are good and snug, and stuff like that.

I'm suspecting the din cable is problematic. The question is, does the control pod gets its power thru this din cable?

(The sub seems to have power somehow: as I was running the screwdriver on the inside of it sparks came out(!))

I see. Thanks. It confirms my idea that power goes from the sub to the pod.

There are 8 wires running through the din cable (the colored ones) but I see some loose threads also running through-- like the grounding it seems, and this bunch of threads isn't attaced to anything on the pod side -- maybe it was broken, but is this the ground and should it be attached to anything (there isn't a place for it on the plastic connector anyway, just 8 places for the colored wires)

many Thanks
