You cannot get the same autotransformer action in an air-core design as an iron one without having a massive, and I mean massive, tapped air core coil. If it's "iron core' distortion you're concerned with, don't be. The autotransformers used in Klipsch Heritage will not saturate with any amount of power you could stand to listen to.
