Help picking a Center Channel

Recommended Posts

I need some advice. I have Synergy sb-3's for my surrounds. An KSW-12 Sub and Acoustic Research 162 towers for my fronts. I am in need of a new center.

I was thinking of getting a Klipsch-RC35 but was wondering is I would be better off with a Klipsch Black SC-3 since that is a match to my SB-3's

I have no way of hearing them first as no one where I lives sells them. I have to buy online. I like what I read about the RC35 but will I notice much of a difference over the SC-3??

My room is 20 Long and 12 feet wide. I use a Benq 6200 Projector. I sit 17 feet from the screen.

Thanks.

I don't know anything about those Acoustic Research towers, but you should keep the most powerful speakers as your L/R mains. Since the ARs are towers I'm inclined to keep them in front.

If I'm wrong and those synergy bookshelfs are better then by all means stick them in front and get a Klipsch center. The SC-3 seems like the most logical option since the driver is the same as your mains.

The Ar's have 3, 8inch woofers in them and a tweeter. I bought them new in 1990. They are really nice speakers. I am not sure what to do for a center.

I have a really small ar center now that I picked up used. It has 3 4 inch woofers and a tweeter. I tried my friends cc-350 but I would prefer klipsch

The Klipsh sb-3's were purchased for a 2 speaker stereo system we have on our main floor. They replaced the AR 162 towers that were just too big for our living room.

We put the Ar162 in the home theater I just put together. I scooped the Klipsch for my Surrounds and put some really cheap speakers upstairs.

I want to in time go all Klipsch, but have to do this very slowly...wife just does not understand a Man's need for more speakers!

I am thinking for the future that the matching SC-3 would be a good center to get. Or would a RC35 be better. Then in the future buy speakers to match that one for my fronts?
