BobbyT
If you have a 7.1 system and use i link capable equipment, can you select the rear speakers for DVDA/SACD instead of the sides. I ask because I'm thinking of getting a receiver and DVD player with i link and I don't have mono poles on the sides. Just in the back. MrMcGoo
Bobby, I have an i.link universal player hooked up to a Pioneer 49TXi. With multi-channel SACDs I do not have the capability of selecting speakers. Other brands or models may have this capability. On most SACDs and DVD-As, there is minimal information from the surrounds. When I play a 5.1 SACD, the Pioneer shows that it is sending a signal to all 4 surround speakers. The front panel of the Pioneer says "SACD+SX" which stands for studio extensions for 7.1 from 5.1. I have Klipsch RS-7s and RS-3IIs. I do not feel as if I'm missing anything major. I do highly recommend the Pioneer receivers and DVD players with i.link. The only fly in the ointment is that Blu-Ray and HD-DVD will be out later this year. BobbyT
Thanks. I'm planning on a 56TXI and 59TXI combo. But I am waiting till sometime in the summer to purchase. For one so I can put the money together to get everything at once, speakers, sub, and Tv. And second for the very reason you stated above.
