My soundcard 4 channel?

Recommended Posts

i have a SB 128 PCI and got the PM 4.1s. anyone know if the card is a 4 channel or not and how do i enable it? i have windows set for surround sound (or quadrophonics or whatever) and i only get sound from the front channels when i play a cd off the DVD-ROM. any one know what is wrong and what i can do to fix it? thanks for any help. i cant test it in a game yet cause windows ME blows (soon to be back in 98)

Porsche,

I checked Creative's website and as I thought the PCI 128 sound card has four channels. According to Creative the "Line In" jack doubles as the "Rear Out" jack and it is selected by the software. I would check all the control settings for your card. There should be an option to select 4 speakers, disable line in or enable rear speakers. Then it's just a matter of plugging those bad boys in!

alright i'll check that. something that might be related to that: after i install MechCommander 2, it will not read the disc in the drive to play the game. it reads the disc fine and installs without a hitch but will not recognize that the disc is in the drive and wont read it and run the game. the drive installs and runs MechCommander (the first one) fine and everything; it is just MC 2 giving that is giving me the fits. any help here would also be nice. Much thanks.

i tried to disable the line in but can not. any help on how to? i could not find any menu or control panel that would allow me to disable the port. I am running windows ME now and the card was made for windows 98/95. that make a difference? guess this the trouble i get for buying a prebuilt machine
