colterphoto1
On related not to my speaker Niles box dilema is that the iMac computer that serves as house jukebox has low voltage output compared to other sources. In other words, if I listen to FM on the Yamaha receiver at -50 (7 o'clock) then switch to the iMac (at it's full output on software and system vol) I have to go to -16 (12 o'clock) for the volume to be substantial enough. This works the amp harder and probably increases the noise in the system. Would rigging up a rat shack disco mixer to serve as a iMac preamp be advisable. The iMac is the source of choice on this whole-house system 90% of the time and I've got a mixer lying around. ANybody else have this dilema with computer outputs or is it just the iMac. I'm using the Tape 1 input, assuming all the line inputs are the same. Thanks, Michael
