kde
We just purchased a home with a media room (20 X 14) - however, the media room has concrete filled walls that run halfway up before the sheetrock takes over. Has anyone ever heard of a media room having concrete walls? Is this proper? What effect will this room have on running the THX Ultra II system with two subs? Falcon
kde, Congrats on the home purchase... especially one with a media room! Is the concrete coated with anything? I'm no concrete expert, but a quick google of some people who are tells you that you should cover that concrete up! http://www.concretenetwork.com/concrete/finished_basements/media_room.htm Does it look like something was there before, or that they had to remove the drywall for some reason (ie installing a new french drain)? kde
The walls are covered with sheetrock - it looks like a typical room and does not appear to have any trace of concrete. After further reading online, I think we will be in good shape. My main concern was that the Ultra II system would throw so much bass that the "heavy" walls would cause to "over-reflect" the waves.
