kentmjohnson
I am about to wire my new home theater room and had a few questions. Should I wrap the wire in anything? or just staple/hook it to the beams in the ceiling? I will have to cross some electrical so are there any tricks to avoid picking up interference? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks
TheSoundBroker
If you can...run conduit. Stapling the wires to the studs is fine but in case you ever wanted to make a change, flex conduit is fairly cheap. Make sure you use a CL-3 fire rated cable and we nearly always run 4 conductor to each speaker for bigger gauge with the capability to bi-wire or bi-amp. We sell and recommend the Liberty UltraCap THX 14/4 which is relatively cheap, easy to pull and works great with every system we've ever run it with. As for electrical, try not to parallel any electrical lines and cross them at 90 degrees. Try to keep the cables as far away as possible (i.e. run the electrical on one side of the stud bay and the speaker cables crossed on the other). Remember to leave a service loop at the ends just in case!
