All four speakers play a little bit of static when using 4 speaker mode ! Please help!

Ok, I thought that this was a SB Live issue, so I went out and bought a TB Santa Cruz, and install it, but the hiss is still there! I even clean installed Win XP, and its still there. I cannot get rid of it. So what causes the hiss? Well, the speakers has to be in a 4 speaker setting. When it is on a 2 speaker setting, the left front speaker doesn't hiss. Even when it is on a 4 speaker setting, I can set the balance to all left or all right, or all front or all rear, and the left front stops hissing! Its only when all four speakers are on, for some inexplicable reason, the left front hisses. And it does not constantly hiss either, it just hisses it seems at certain frequencies. What is going on here! This is REALLY ANNOYING! Please help or give me suggestions on what can possibly be wrong.

Thanks

I'm not sure what the difference between hiss and static is. But the sound anomoly is not just one frequency, again its like paper rustling. So I guess its like static. I have the 4.1s.

Also, upon closer listening, all four speakers actually make this sound. But it seems the right front speaker is the least noticable. The left front exhibits this sound at the greatest volume, and the two rears are in between.

What did you do to solve this problem?

  • 2 weeks later...

I seem to be having this problem right now. If i unplug 1 speaker of the 4, it all stops. I shut everything off for about 20 minutes to let it cool (it was on for about a week and half without power off and i just noticed it the other day). and it seemed to fix it. I dont know if this will help but it fixed mine
