Ronan
Stupid, flagrantly uninformed question: is it okay to put the iFi woofer and satellites near a laptop? Are magnetized components like the HD at risk? From what I understand it's a non-issue with the sats and that the sub will only be a problem with CRTs, but I wanted to get a definite confirmation from you guys. Jay481985
the satellites are sheilded but not the subwoofer. Though the laptops are supposed to have some form of shielding to prevent data loss. Though I would not suggest placing the laptop on the subwoofer.
Andy W
I would think the laptop would be more in danger from vibration than magnetic field. The sub will sound much better on the floor anyway.
Ronan
Needless to say, I wasn't planning on putting the subwoofer on a table! It's going on the floor, near a corner. But it will be within four feet of the laptop and I wanted to make sure there's no risk.

Laptop harddisks require a pretty strong local magnetic field to alter data. Besides this is a good reminder to always have a external harddisk or equivalent for backing up your data/files!
