looking for a cheap reciever...

yep, it's here and I plugged it into my less sensitive Marantz 940's and man is this amp clean and solid. I couldn't turn it up all the way without making my ears bleed and the reciever was absolutely quiet - not a touch of hiss. I can't wait to get it plugged in to my Chorus II's this evening/tomorrow.

Ok, got it all hooked up to my chorus II's and I must say that I am

extremely impressed. At volumes under 100dB I would put this sherwood

up against any of the fancy expensive amps out there. I'll have to give

it some more time to verify this claim, but right away it is a lot

smoother than my Crown XLS 402 (which is a very good sounding amp). A

quick peak through the vent grill on the top quickly shows that is a

bare bones machine - no bells and whistles at all which I feel is a

huge plus. It's got two large power supplies for the amplifiers, the

decoding and networking circuitry, some DSP off in the corner and the

speaker outputs (which sadly are spring clip which I might upgrade to

5-way binding posts). And for $50 you can imagine that I'm way stoked

about the purchase. I will definetly be keeping this reciever further down the road - perhaps for the bedroom or garage.
