Hey guys,

Tis my first post, so il lmake it short.

i am going to start building my fisrt really nice home theater system

this christmas, i am moving out next spring, so i want to be ready, (no

furniture no bed, just speakers , hehehe)

Klipsch has always been my favorite brand, i am currently enjoying the promedia 2.1's right now.

I like Boston alot to, and i recently acquired two boston A60's for $5

each!! even though there probably 20 years old, and the foam

surrounding on the woofers are torn, i can replace the foam i have a

repair kit in the mail right now. i plugged the better of the two into

an old sony cd player and it sounded great at low volumes so i dont

think anything else is wrong with them, and speakers just get sweeter

as time gos on. But i think ill just keep these because of their

rareity, and their just really cool to have around. for my true home

theater system, i want all klipsch, and a really nice cd receiver. i

dont know if i can afford new retail, so if somone can recomend a good,

hopefully onkyo, i reall like onkyo, cd receiver, and a good model or

series of speakers to get i would be gratefull. i want some largefloor

standing speakers, and some bookshelf speakers, and the biggest sub i

can afford. it should all be klipsch, unless someone can recomend a

good mate to my Bostons. any help would be well received, thanks in

advance.

What's your budget and do you realize that a "large" floorstander to us means like 12 cubic feet? [;)]

If you want big sound, then I would suggest finding some cornwalls,

chorus, or forte speakers - they pop up on ebay all the time and are

some of the best sounding speakers you can buy (you can look at

spending about $500 / pair on a good deal). Or you could get the

smaller "bookshelf" heresy speakers for $300 / pair, they're a bit bass

shy but with a good subwoofer you'll never notice the difference.

As far as subwoofers go, get the Klipsch THX Ultra II subwoofer system

(about $3k). I have a feeling that's out of your league, but the Sub-12

is great alternative (something like 3 or 5 hundred at bestbuy, i forget). Imagine your 2.1 subwoofer and multiply it by 10.

(same comparison with the sats and the oldschool floorstanders).

Anyways, give us a budget and your anticipated room size and what

you're using for a TV and you're bound to get a lot of great advice.

I saw a very nice Onkyo receiver at onecall.com yesterday in their promotions section. I forget the model number but it was MSRP $1000 marked down to $600. If you go to pricegrabber.com you will see about 4 or 5 places have it for that price. I like onecall.com though. Maybe that's out of your budget though.
