eteet
Just ordered my iFi and I'm wondering where to place the speakers. I'm using it in a rather small home office, the room is about 11 x 18, like a shoe box. I'm thinking of putting the sats on my desk behind my laptop. Or if I place them at the narrow end of the room they will be a little to my left, but I think that will provide a better solution for the room, if not my specific seating position. And which way should I point the stats? Any ideas? The subwoofer will go under the table up against the wall. I could put it in a corner but that would place it behind a waist high bookshelf that's installed diagonally from one wall to another. Whatdoyathink? Guest BobG
Treat your iFi like normal stereo speakers. That is, try to get some separation between the sats for best soundstaging and spaciousness. Generally, something between .6X and X for the distance between the sats if X is the distance from you to the wall the sats are on. Also, it's best to have the sats near the wall behind them rather than way out from the wall. If you position the sats like multimedia speakers, with them on either side of your monitor, stereo separation will be minimized. They will still sound better than any multimedia system, but you won't get the full sonic potential of the iFi.
eteet
Spreading out the sats really helped the sound. Using this system as speakers for a computer seems a bit of a waste considering their capabilities. But they do sound awesome! Eric
