BillH2121
I picked up a Sony 55 lcd A20 series last night. Finally got everything hooked up but could not get a signal from DVD to the external Video on TV. Eventually, I found the signal on the Video 5. Can anyone tell me why it was on Video 5 and not Video 1 and how I can reassign the DVD to Video 1. The menu allows you to assign the Video 1 to TV, Sat, DVD, etc. When I assigned Video 1 to DVD, it still didn't pick up the DVD signal. Thanks for any help. Petrol
Bill, How do you have it hooked up? did you use the three separate "Componant" cables or single "composite" cable I have the 'economy' A10 series but as far as I know they are very similar other then the A20 is 10% brighter due to higher wattage bulb, A20 has a couple more lines of horizontal res (768 vs 720) and of-course the cabinet. anyway, on my A10, I played and played before deciding that you can "assign" them in name-only... just a label? at least that's the best excuse I could come up with. one mine, video input #1 & #3 are "composite-video-only-inputs" video input #2 is also "composite" but on the front panel video input #4 & #5 are "Componant" video input #6 & #7 are HDMI
BillH2121
Petrol - OK, I see what you mean - the inputs are divided by the type of source. Yeah - I used components to connect cable box, receiver, dvd, and tv. I haven't been able to get a clear answer from my cable company as to whether the HDMI port on my HD cable box is enabled or not. When my wife picked up the box, the cable representative told her not to use the HDMI - and then said most people like component better. I've been happy with the tv so far - I'm still messing with tweaks. A lot of people on the AVS forum like the A10 series and seem very satisfied with it. Thanks for the info on the video inputs. Petrol
no problem Bill, I'm glad to ba able to help out. I have a "cable-card" rather then the box... and I WILL be kicking the cable card to the curb soon. Besides the 'limitations' that nobody seems to ever talk about (no two-way communications with a cable-card = no video on demand+no pay per view+no on screen interactive program guide) I have REALLY grown tired of having to 'reset' that dang thing 5-10 times per week. oh, and did I mention that no one at the comcast here seems to even know what a cable card is, much less what is causing the problem?
