skonopa
Last night, I went to, yup - you guessed it - Jaxx, again, this time to see Kamelot! That had to of been one of the most incredible things I've seen since that Trans-Siberian Orchestra show I saw last fall! That had to of been one of the finest performances I've ever seen come through that place since I started going to shows up there! They mostly played tracks from thier most recent three albums, Dark Halo, Epica, and Karma, with one track from The Forth Legacy! I've listened to these albums numerous times, and of course, on good equipment, no less, so I know how they sound and thus quite familier with them (dug Epica back out again and listening to it right now as I am typing this!). The live show was friggan spot on! They performed that music flawlessly, and with no shortcuts at all! I was blown away at just how awesome these guys sounded live! You'd almost think they have the CD on somewhere and they are just up there air-guitaring it! No way - these guys where the real deal! It will be tough to find an act that measures up to that one! Roy Kahns voice is just so awesome. I love his very smooth sounding vocalization. And of course, just goes to show the guitars and drums definitly up there with some of the best out there! That keyboardist was just unbelievable! He has to be a classically trained pianist! How often do you see a keyboard solo at these shows? He played on, and it had to of been heard to be believed! I only wish I could play 1/10th as good as he did! Hell, if he skiied as good as he played that keyboard - I am in trouble! I just wish I had not forgotten my damn camera, as I was right up next to the stage on the extreme right (up against the speaker stack), and I could've gotten some awesome shots of the band playing. Kamelot is very quickly becoming one of my all time most favorite bands, right up there with Rush, Stratovarius, and Sonata Arctica (and I often even include Trans-Siberian Orchestra in this). Also, thier new album, Black Halo, is a definite must have for any serious metalhead, hell, I'd say for anybody that about good quality music (and the recording quality of the disk itself is excellent)! Hell, this may very well be a tough act even for Trans-Siberian Orchestra to follow up behind (and I am seeing them on the 23rd in Richmond)!
