lo123
Does anyone know what size bolt fits RS-35 surrounds? Bought a set of these awhile back and never mounted them, need to research brackets that will fit and hold their weight.
carjulreyes
I don't know the exact bolt size but I've mounted my rs-35's using Omnimount stainless steel 10.0 wall/ceiling mounts. The speakers are just under 10 pounds. It seems pretty stable so far. And I was able to tilt the speakers a bit downwards with them. Cheers. colterphoto1
I think the Omnimounts 10 series are 10/24 threads. That's a #10 bolt with 24 threads per inch. Go to hardware store and buy a bolt like that and GENTLY try it out. Don't force and strip threads. AMY- why isn't this info in the books, stamped on the speaker and included in the Products specs sheets? Klipsch puts the little threaded thingies on speakers, then doens't tell you what to buy. lo123
Exactly! These are still new, unopened, need to match thread size with available mounting brackets and then sell wife on using them versus selling them (ouch) and buying in-walls (ouch - ouch). Having the thread size for all applicable speakers on the product web page spec sheet would sure be great. Omnimount stainless steel 10.0 post is best info so far. My tendency is to go for a bracket that holds more than 10 pounds since these weigh just under 10 pounds, but then the bolt size changes. Not much margin with a 10 pound mount. Wonder if a threaded adapter exists, smaller threads into the speaker with female threads to accept larger bolt from bigger bracket? Has anyone mounted these using the keyhole slot? Seems I saw rubber feet on the back when I checked the product spec sheet the other day. Keeps them away from the wall? Brackets seem like they would give more flexibility for tilting, etc. Also thought about setting them on shelves, brackets still seem like a more versatile solution. Any thoughts appreciated! carjulreyes
Larry, just saw your post in another thread and didn't want to hijack that. I found these thread specs on the omnimount site - http://www.omnimount.com/pdf/OmniSupportlit.pdf This is in the ball shaft specs (p. 6) of the pdf: 10.0 series thread is 1/4" - 20 20.0 series thread is 3/8" - 16 If you look in the pdf, there is some other information about adapters but I'm not too sure if it states what you're looking for. As I said before, I have my rs-35's mounted with the 10.0 series and after a few weeks of loud music and movies, they are still stable. I'm not really worried that they will be coming down by themselves.
lo123
Thanks! The Omnimount site does have lots of good data, thanks for the link. The Klipsch data sheet (web based) shows RS-35 weight at 9.6 pounds. If you have yours mounted with the Omni-mount series 10 brackets that locates the insert size on the speaker. I was hoping to use a bracket rated for 20 pounds for a safety factor and/or if I upgraded later to a different surround speaker, but apparently those threads will be too large for the speaker insert.. Someone else had this problem a couple weeks ago and wound up stuck with a set of the 20 pound brackets they had bought on-line. The adapter Omni-mount shows is confusing, not really anything that gets the 20 pound bracket threaded shaft to the speaker insert size for the RS-35. To use the 20 pound bracket I would need a custom adapter with female threads to accept the larger 20 pound bracket threads and male threads on the other end to mate with the speaker insert. The adapter would probably not look very cool compared to the bracket hardware. Good to know the 10 pound bracket works, at least I have a path forward if nothing else pans out. Thanks again. wally flick
I have RS-25s mounted using the keyhole. I used a lag bolt into a 2x4 behind the drywall installed when finishing my basement. Purchased the speakers as floor demos, so I didnt get the rubber feet in the box (didnt even get the box []) but just picked up some thick felt pads from Home Depot. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> After reading this post, Im thinking about going with the Omnimounts, love to be able to tilt down a bit.
