yaffstone
The driver stage will probably have more effect than the output tubes. Having said that, I've tried EL-34 and KT88 in the same push-pull ultralinear amp (modified ST-70) and I like the KT88 better. Stronger bass and more well rounded over all. It may have more to do with an individual set of tube's characteristics than a particular tube type. Note that some tube vendors sell the same tube type with various "hardness" ratings. jt1stcav
With my Cornwalls, I've enjoyed the EL34, 6V6, 6BQ5, and currently the venerable 300B. Never heard the 2A3 or KT88 thru my system yet, but from what others have indicated, they (and their equivalents/substitutes) would also be thoroughly enjoyed. Frankly, what tube wouldn't be of choice with Klipsch? I think all valves would make Klipsch sing with glee![A]
