ApEx
On Bestbuy.com I noticed Athena Technologies has released their 800 -Watt subwoofer. I was wondering if anyone knows how it compares to the Synergy Sub-12 that I just bought a week ago. I know that watts isent the only thing important to a subwoofer but the other stats on it looks good to. Only thing that dont seem good on it is the weight of the Magnet. I dont know how much the weight the magnet on the Sub-12 is but for Car Subwoofers 28oz is really low for a subwoofer.
DrWho
28oz. isn't that bad if it's a neodynum magnet...but I doubt that's the case. With a 1.5" VC I was wondering how the heck they were advertising 800watts (as it's practically impossible for such a small VC to dissipate that kind of heat quick enough). And then upon further research I noticed that it's only 200 watts RMS. And then considering some more design flaws (like a front firing port, and then two seperate ports which increases port nonlinearities) I would confidently assert that the klipsch sub-12 is still the better sub - even without hearing the athena unit. The sub-12 is seriously the best bang for the buck out there so no need for buyer's remorse.

I just wanted to hear from someone that knew alot about subs. I love my Sub-12, I have my room in the basement and my sisters room upstairs shakes like crazy when Im watching a movie.
