MyGoesTo11 Posted August 2, 2006 Share Posted August 2, 2006 I currentley own a http://us.dfi.com.tw/Product/xx_product_spec_details_r_us.jsp?PRODUCT_ID=2840&CATEGORY_TYPE=MB&SITE=US with onboard S/PDIF and need to run a cable about 30' throughout my room to reach a denon 2805,now can i just use a way cheaper rca cable or do I need the digital coax to keep higher then cd quality mp3's intact? wouldent the receiver convert the signal to analog before outputting it anyway? Guest " " Posted August 3, 2006 Share Posted August 3, 2006 RCA type S/PDIF uses 75 ohm coaxial cable. A normal RCA cable would not provide good results for a 30 foot run. If you want to home brew something, you have 2 choices. a. Use F-terminal RG6U cabling, and buy an adapter for each end to convert the F-terminal to RCA terminal. b. Make a cable using RG6U cable and RCA connectors. I personally would not use RG56U cable, but that has more to do with the less than primo conditions in my area.
