Main Volume rheostat trouble.

I am having trouble with my main volume and surround rheostat's(knobs

that control the volume). When I turn them, I get a lot of

static. The static has gotten louder over time and it happens

everytime i turn the volume. Also, now, there are certain

positions that if i put the main volume at, I get no bass at

all. Like i lose bass and I have to wiggle it. It has gotten very annoying.

I tried using electronic contact cleaner in the past and it has helped

but not 100%. I dont have any access to any or tools (at college) so I

cant do that atm. Is there anything else i can try?

With out schematic's and test point values, it's a blind guess, sounds like you need a new pot, but I am puzzled why volume adjustments would only bring issues with just the bass.

Sorry, I don't think there are any short cuts on this one.
