homemadeheresy
Was wondering if it would be an easy fix to transform a tube amp from an old organ to a stereo tube amp?
DRBILL
It would be no harder than restoring any other amplifier from that era. Dynaco actually built amps for some of the electric organ companies. It was a a beefed up Mark III if my memory serves. It was all point to point wiring with no PCs. I'm guessing that the one you show is from a Hammond. They were rugged and over-engineered. That being said, they rolled off sharply past 5000hz. If that amp you show is yours or you can get it for free, I'd say restore it. If its something you are going to try to buy on e-bay, you'd be better off bidding on a regular power amp. Good luck. Daddy Dee
I don't know about the one in the pic, looks like it is a mono amp. For a while I had a Baldwin organ amp which had been redone as a stereo amp. Baldwin built an amp which was a two channel mono amp. One channel was HF and the other LF. By adding matching transformers, it made a fabulous stereo amp. It used 6L6 power tubes. If you're interested in something like this, I'd suggest to find "autospec" on Audiogon. He does a great job on these and might be able to get one in his refurb cue. I think I paid something around $330 for one he had refurbed. It sounded very good to my ears.
