dfcm2003
Hi all,Has anyone else experinced a static sound when turning the volume up or down, there are times, when the left channel will not work, until I wiggle my volume rheostat a bit.Can this be replaced? Has anyone done this, is so what is the part number and location where I can purchase the rheostat? Or is there a another type that would work like something from Radio Shack etc...I would like to get a CP-1 but Klipsch is on backorder. Does anyone know of how or what I might be able to do on this? Iv had mine since 1999 and they sound as good as the day I purchased them. Thanks for your time.Daryl
MD1032
Probably better just to find a CP-1. Look on ebay, I see them there all the time.
m115919h
Mine made really bad static noise when I touched the volume control, switched it for a CP1 and havent had a problem since. Ebay is probably the only place to find them now, unfortunately.
whamo
Or, you can take it apart fairly simple like 2 screws and put some deoxit on it and rotate it 10 -20 times or so. If you don't have deoxit use some wd40 (only a little) then rinse with some isopropyl alcohal.
Dj_Double_S
If you are going to take the time to take it apart dfcm2003 I would suggest using some Electrical Contact Cleaner. It comes in an aerosol spray and you can usually find it at any automotive store. My volume button had the same problem and I used some of this on it and it fixed the problem. Hope this helps.
