I had a "scratchy noise" in my 4.1's when I touched the volume button knob. Sprayed some contact cleaner on all my knobs and fix the noise. If your having the noise while you are playing music without touching the knobs then you might have bigger problems.

If you are going to take the time to take it apart dfcm2003 I would suggest using some Electrical Contact Cleaner. It comes in an aerosol spray and you can usually find it at any automotive store. My volume button had the same problem and I used some of this on it and it fixed the problem. Hope this helps.

I have mine at 12 playing a game or movie. I like it towards 3 with music.

Got my 4.1's in march of 2000. They sound just as good today as they did then. Although my neighbors hate them![] The only problem I have had is a static noise when touching the volume knob which I fixed with some contact cleaner. The speakers are a 10 out of 10 as far as im concerned. Just ordered a pair of the 5.1 ultras so wish me luck lol. Keeping the 4.1's around as a backup! The only reason I am ordering the 5.1's is to get a pair of them before they all dissapear.

What an interesting group with an interesting sound. Always kept up with the group but never had the money to travel to their venue citys to see them. With that said tickets went on sale two hours ago (which I purchased four) to see them in knoxville this coming saturday. Any person with the love of music would have to appreciate these guys talents and their instruments.
