EL34 Posted January 8, 2007 Share Posted January 8, 2007 I can't say for certain but typically material changes in tubes are to increase tube life and structural changes are to alter performance such as dissipation, output and consequently, sonics. Material selection is very important to tube life and perhaps they can get more hours out of them.
