stacking LaScalas 2 per side

If you desired greater gain, you can stack two LaScalas.

You invert the top one and stack them 'tweeter to tweeter', aligning their acoustic centers along the vertical axis.

This will minimize the comb filtering and polar lobing.

If a greater coverage area is desired, you can increase the splay of the speakers while maintaining the alignment of their acoustic centers.

Corner placement is ideal.

Doing this with more than a pair, or aligning them horizontally, covering the same area will defeat any attempt to add gain as the comb filtering and polar lobing with be very audible and it will defeat the purpose for having greater gain. In other words, the negative effects will outweigh any positive gain (gee, a pun.[;)] )

The only other way to obtain greater gain while maintaining the same polar characteristics of the fundamental unit (1 speaker) (and avoiding comb filtering) is to configure them in a Bessel array configuration with 5 units.
