lo123
I have the 5800s as rear/surrounds with RF-35s and RC-35 across the front, Denon AVR-1804 to run the show. The 5800s do a credible job for my rear/surround duty but they certainly have limitations versus actual cabinet speakers. Do you have to run in-walls across the front? One major issue I have with my rears is that once they are installed, you're stuck. I can move my towers around a bit for better sound (especially if the wife is not home!) and get much better soundstage. Just some thoughts. mmonius
unfortunetly, i have to put in-walls in. new home and damm wife wants inwalls. it is prewired for rears, so that not bad, but will need inwalls in front and center. i guess the r-5800-w klipsch are the best bet?? i see yamaha has a new RX-V661... for around 499.00 seems like a deal. 1080p hdmi w/2 inputs and 1 out, etc.. 95w x 7. guess thats ok. i will have a definitive subwoofer in the corner... the one item that can be visible. so i will get bass, just wanted to see if the r-5800-w were my best option. thanks
lo123
check the 5800s power rating, they are about half the rating of my RF-35s as I remember. Have not hurt them yet but I listen at movie SPLs around 75-80 dB mostly, peaks higher during action scenes. If you plan to really push these check the power ratings. I suspect you'll hurt your ears before you hurt the speakers, but you should know what you're buying.
