Marshal Posted December 13, 2001 Share Posted December 13, 2001 I'm thinking about getting the Yamaha 5490 receiver with DD-EX & DTS-ES and DPL 2 capability. It has 550w total output power and is THX rated. Does anyone have any experience with this kit or know of someone who does? I'd like to read some reviews. TIA for your help. gbrocker Posted January 15, 2002 Share Posted January 15, 2002 I just got Yamaha HTR-5490 last week. Hooked up to Klipschorn mains, RSIIIB rear surrounds, RCIII center, Sony DVP-NC600 (optical link). I'm still learning the controls, etc...We've watched 5 DVDs so far (Hitachi SX60, old but too new to replace). So far I'm very happy with the sound, clear dialogue, body vibrating sound levels, and surround effects like at the theater. I'll try to update this after I've had more time with it. (work and Kids in school are slowing me down). My music setup upstairs is Yamaha original DSP (now without my horns), and this sounds pretty good so far downstairs.
