Tucom
I am wondering if I were to get a dedicated subwoofer amp similar dimensions as the Ifi amp, say from partsexpress, would it work well to use with the Ifi subwoofer? Is the Ifi amp that comes with it any different, or "altered", then a refular, off the net amp? I'm hoping it would sound the same or damn near similar, because I really want to turn this into a more versatile subwoofer to use with my studio setup. Thanks Peace
Jay481985
the specs are not published, and adding a different amp will likely just cause complications.
Andy W
The amp has an EQ specifically designed for that subwoofer in that box. An off the shelf amp is not going to have that.
Tucom
Aww shucks =(. How much of a decrease in SQ would result in exchanging the amp with a dedicated sub plate amp? Peace
Jay481985
why are you trying to switch it out?
Tucom
As I said in my first post Jay, I am switching out the amp for a dedicated one in order to gain more funcionality of the subwoofer. My main goal is to be able to set an active crossover. I want to implement the Ifi subwoofer with my studio monitors, but the studio monitors reach down much lower than what the Ifi subwoofer crosses over at with the Ifi amp. If there is a way to set a lower crossover without changing out the amp, then forget partsexpress [H] P.S Partsexpress still PWNS.
