Guest Anonymous
Folks - I ran across an SB-1 at a local Goodwill store. For $4 I wasn't expecting much; sure enough the sound was very weak and it tripped the output breaker in my receiver. An Allen wrench was enough to undo the screws holding the woofer in, and a finger push from the back (through the port) popped it out. Turned out the braided leads from the woofer's terminal strip to the voice coil had shorted together. They were curly, as though the braid had come off the inside end of a spool, and Murphy's Law had them curling toward each other. Thought this tip might be useful in case anyone else has a dead SB-1. best wishes - Dave Spicer (an autistic writer/speaker)
Paladin
Dave, This is a good tip when there is a defect like this. Thanks for sharing it. I am moving this to Updates and Modifications so more traffic will benefit from this information.
