Wrinkles Posted October 1, 2007 Share Posted October 1, 2007 I have a pair of 1990 LaScalas using AL3 crossovers with the Altec 511B horns. Available in the area are some University SM120A horns at $100. a piece. Cabinets are additional $50. Being inquisitive, I wonder if it would be worthwhile or a waste of time and money to buy and play with. I've downloaded the .pdf sheet on them and see that they could be a good fit. EV used these horns with success in their Sentry III speakers in the early 60s. So. I am asking, has anyone played with these and discovered weakness or strengths?
