No power in new Klipsch 2.1.

I feel really bad about this. Before Christmas my wife bought me a set of Klipsch 4.1. It turned out I couldn't get more than the subwoofer and 2 speakers to play, probably because my two-year-old machine has an older sound card which I prefer not to replace because I'll get a new machine in perhaps as little as a year or so (using a extra Y-cable didn't work). However, I must say based on what I heard of CDs out, the sound from those 3 of 5 speakers was incredible and really does match up to someone's statement that they beat some $1,000 pairs (And I once owned Accoustats that ran over 3,000 back in l980 so I can attest to this).

Alas, I had to turn them in for 2.1's (at Best Buy in Reading). I took a previously opened but "inspected" pack because I thought it was fair. I assumed that I'd have no problems since the crate read "inspected."

Maybe the "inspection" meant only checking to see if all parts were present but not operating it, unless I'm doing something wrong.

Either I'm doing something wrong, or these speakers don't get any power. I've checked all connnections. My cheapo speakers attached to the monitor play when plugged via the same hole.

The strip into which the subwoofer is plugged works, because my lamp operates from it. Shouldn't the subwoofer be warm? Or shouldn't there the light go on the smaller control side speaker? Unlike the 4.1s, this model seems to have no power button or I could clarify a power problem immediately. Later I even tried running them via the laptop. No luck.

I want Klipsch. The last thing I want is to take these speakers back. I really liked the two-channel sound that I got from the 4.1s and assume these 2.1's would sound almost as good.
