Woodog
Just purchased this for $200 from a fellow here in town. I know nothing about it. here's another pic I got it for my son's heresys in his 10'x10' room. Currently I have it connected to the Tape Output 1 from his Harman Kardon 430 into the Line Out section. Volume control is on the side. How should I best set this up? Should I seek out a two channel amp with a pre-out? Thanks all, I'm sure you'll know what it is. woo
Mr. RF62
Hi Woo, 2 things, 1 take it out of the Line out. Put it in the left in(white one above the Red), or 2 get a Y-cable and use both Red & White input. That'll make a difference. The Tape out is fine IMO, since you do have the adjustable crossover. If its was a dedicated 5.1 Receiver, then I'd use the sub out, or LFE out. Looks like a nice sub, someone else'll know what it is.
DrWho
Do the tape outs change with the volume knob? If they do, then your current configuration is fine. Just set the lowpass filter on the sub to around 50Hz. If the tape out doesn't change with volume, then your best bet would be to get a pair of Y-splitters and parallel out from the preamp out and amp in jacks. Something like this would work perfect: http://www.onlinesupplystore.com/Product.asp?id=29918&ADTR=1 Connect one male end to the L preout and the other male end to the L amp in on the back of the HK. Then connect the female end to a standard RCA cable that you run to the L input on the sub. Do the same for the right channel too (so you'll end up running a stereo RCA cable from the amp to the sub). It looks like it might be an RSW-10: http://www.klipsch.com/products/discontinued/details/rsw-10.aspx
Woodog
Awesome folks! Thanks. I do believe it is an RSW-10. It has 2 10" drivers, one active and one passive I'm pretty sure. I think I'll look for a Harman Kardon 630 or 730, something with a pre-out. The tape out doesn't change with volume. woo
sivadselim
Hi Woo, 2 things, 1 take it out of the Line out. Although it's not "proper", the unfiltered outputs WILL actually work just as well as the inputs do.

Yeah, unfortunately the RSW series subs do not feature speaker-level inputs. You could try a speaker-level-to-RCA converter. They're inexpensive and can easily be found at a car stereo shop. Woodog
I've posted the rest of the guy's stuff that he hasn't been able to sell locally in the Garage Sale section of the forum. I'm not sure he wants to ship or not, but all the gear is in good shape. There's a bargain there if someone wants it. woo
