AnalOg
Hi All, I have a Direct TV satalite receiver DVR and a Pioneer Elite vsx47tx receiver, ever since I employed the Direct TV dvr into the mix, when switching stations from non HD to HD format and the dolby digital feature activated on the dvr, at times you'll get a large cracking sound which makes what appears the receiver go into a audio shut down mode and I have to cycle the receiver off/on to get it to broadcast the Dolby digital sound. anyone have any clues on what to do. I've already had Direct TV replace the receiver, still having the same problem. Thanks, Tom
Guest macbeth
Tom, I've run across this with a cable box (it was a brand-new design) - had the same type of cracking noise. I became 75% confident that the problem was caused by the cable box, but the particular receiver couldn't handle the audio glitch. A different receiver was more tolerant of the audio issue and would either ignore or mute the noise. After the receiver swap, I didn't investigate any further (and didn't use that receiver any more either) Matt
AnalOg
Matt, I'm very confident it's the Satalite receiver, prior to this "upgrade" to a HD DVR, everthing was fine. They sent me another box, still has the same glitch. Tom
Guest macbeth
I agree, it's the sat receiver causing the problem. Some receivers can/could "compensate" and either mute or ignore the noise. I did at least two cable box swap outs with no improvement. See if you can borrow another receiver for a quick test. Matt
