Bill H.
I have the HK 240 (predesessor 0f the 247). I like it alot. Sounds good with either music or movies. Easy to understand and operate. I purchased mine from the HK website. Got mine for 300.00 Another unit to investigate is the Yamaha RX-V659 on Amazon.com for 369.88http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000F97AFY/ref=nosim/coffeeresearch82010-20#
jheis
I've said this before, but if you are leaning toward Denon, I'd recomend that you move far enough up the Denon line to make sure you are getting a "made in Japan" model. The made in China Denons sound like crap - IMHO. James
jwatson364
how am i suppose to do that? is the 1708 or 1508 china or japan? is it me, or are most items made in china a chocolate-covered turd?
Fizzlemizzle
I just got a yamaha rx-v659 and i'm very happy with it. It has lots of power and sounds great. The only downside is it doesnt have HDMI inputs/output but the quality is worth it in my opinion. Read the review on audioholics
jheis
Look on the back of the unit you are considering. It will tell you where it was made. James
