Bert_d
Does someone have experience with: RF83 - RC64 -RS62 - RT12 with an Onkyo TX-NR 905 I would like to know if the sound won't be too bright? Currently I have the Denon AVR2106, which is warm but too light. I can't find a shop who has my Klipsch speaker set with the Onkyo for audition. I listened to the Onkyo 875 / Denon avr2808 on totally different speakers then Klipsch (I don't remember the brand) Conclusion: The onkyo sounded flat, the Denon much richer in bass BUT: my RF83 and 2106 give loads of bass, and I was thinking: - The combination of RF83 and Onkyo, may be a good marriage? oldbuckster
If you haven't bought yet, I'd shop around, if that is an option ... dollar for dollar you can find better, unless your heart is set on Onkyo ....
Guest " "
140 watts X 7. Thats pretty good for 1700 avg price. My TX-NR1000 is 160 X 7 and costs me 4000. Sound wise my TX-NR1000 is the best 7.1 I heard. I would not expect the TX NR 905 to be anything less than a front runner. If there are others with these features at this price poiint, lets start a list. ////////////////////// Product Specifications Amplifier Section Power Output - Front L/R 140 W + 140 W (8 ohms, 20 Hz–20 kHz,0.05%, 2 channels driven, FTC)170 W + 170 W (8 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.7%,2 channels driven, FTC)180 W + 180 W (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.1%,2 channels driven, FTC) Center 140 W + 140 W (8 ohms, 20 Hz–20 kHz,0.05%, 2 channels driven, FTC)170 W + 170 W (8 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.7%,2 channels driven, FTC)180 W + 180 W (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.1%,2 channels driven, FTC) Surround L/R 140 W + 140 W (8 ohms, 20 Hz–20 kHz,0.05%, 2 channels driven, FTC)170 W + 170 W (8 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.7%,2 channels driven, FTC)180 W + 180 W (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.1%,2 channels driven, FTC)en, FTC)170 W + 170 W (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.1%,2 channels driven, FTC) Surround Back L/R 140 W + 140 W (8 ohms, 20 Hz–20 kHz,0.05%, 2 channels driven, FTC)170 W + 170 W (8 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.7%,2 channels driven, FTC)180 W + 180 W (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.1%,2 channels driven, FTC) Dynamic Power 400 W (3 ohms, 1 ch)300 W (4 ohms, 1 ch)180 W (8 ohms, 1 ch) THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) 0.05% (Rated power) Damping Factor 60 (Front, 1 kHz, 8 ohms) Input Sensitivity and Impedance 200 mV/47 k-ohms (Line)2.5 mV/47 k-ohms (Phono MM) Output Level and Impedance 200 mV/470 ohms (Rec out) Phono Overload 70 mV (MM, 1 kHz, 0.5%) Frequency Response 5 Hz–100 kHz/+1 dB, -3 dB (Direct mode) Tone Control ±10 dB, 20 Hz (Bass)±10 dB, 20 kHz (Treble) Signal-to-Noise Ratio 110 dB (Line, IHF-A) Speaker Impedance 4 ohms–16 ohms or 6 ohms–16 ohms Video Section Input Sensitivity/Output Level and Impedance - Video 1 Vp-p/75 ohms (Component and S-Video Y)0.7 Vp-p/75 ohms (Component PB/CB, PR/CR)0.28 Vp-p/75 ohms (S-Video C)1 Vp-p/75 ohms (Composite) Component Video Frequency Response 5 Hz–100 MHz (-3 dB) Tuner Section Tuning Frequency Range - FM 87.5 MHz–107.9 MHz AM 530 kHz–1,710 kHz FM/AM Preset Memory 40 stations General Power Supply AC 120 V, 60 Hz Power Consumption 9.8 A Dimensions (W x H x D) 17 1/8" x 7 5/8" x 18 1/16"(435 x 194 x 458.5 mm) Weight 54 lbs. Bill H.
Bert, Two things. 1. The Other brand of speakers could have caused the Flatness. 2. Myself- I like (and own) Onkyo and don't find them Bright. I would try to find a Brand , in your Local area ,if possible that sounds good to you. This way you are making a Local sale which helps your economy and you would have Local access if Service were ever an Issue. I've noticed that in Europe there are lots of Brands that we don't have access to here in the US. Also are there any local Friends avaliable where you could listen to there systems, and compare? Just an Idea. Good Luck.
Bert_d
@oldbuckster: dollar for dollar you can find better: Such as?? actually the MSRP in europe is 2000€ (at the current rate $2900), and I can get it at 1500€ ($2175) eg: Denon AVR 3808 1700€ ($2465 ) now at 1290€ (1870$) and Yamaha RX-V 3800 1700€ ($2465 ) now at 1275€ ($1848) @Bill H.: The Other brand of speakers could have caused the Flatness: I've been thinking and the brand came back to me, it was : ROGERS (never heard about it) An other issue is that Klipsch isn't that popular (yet) here in Belgium. But things are changing !!! So not many people have them at home. Only people who are really into home theaters know Klipsch, the others only know B&W, Focal, JBL, Kef, Dali, Wharfedale, ... I found a shop in Germany ( 166km) where I can listen to the RF83 with an onkyo 875 ($1725), maybe it's worth the trip

tross
I recently tested the 905. My first impression of the SQ was not great. After running Audessy and tweaking the settings the SQ was pretty good. I liked the unit more the second day. However, there are other issues that ruled the 905 out for me. The Integra 8.8 might not have the same issues, but I doubt it. You might want to see this link http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/99853/1010920.aspx#1010920.
