sezwhut
I have the quintet micro system, driven by a Sony STR-DE845. I was jammin a little hard and the horns quit working, The only sound were coming out of the tweeter. I was wondering if there is a protection circuit, or if I over drove the and trashed my system. I did swap my rears to see if I fried my mid channel in my reciever and they worked fine. Is there anything I can do to check or troubleshoot. Or should I start shopping for a new pair? sezwhut
Ok I opened up the speaker and found a small circuit card with some caps, inductor, and resistors and noticed a burnt smell. Does anyone have a schematic for this card with component values? I think I might have toasted one of the caps for the horn output.
Guest BobG
Take them to the authorized Klipsch dealer from which they were purchased. If you've burnt crossover components though, it's not too likely to be covered as a manufacturing defect.
