FatesWarning
I am currently using a 6 year old Onkyo receiver HT-R500 (100 watts/ch) with my 1977 Heresy's. It came in a home theater package for $600. I am running optical and digital coax from PS3 and cable box to this receiver. I bought a new Onkyo TX-SR606 (90 watts/ch) HDMI, which will be here tomorrow. How much of a sound improvement will I get with the new HDMI receiver? I kind of rushed into this decision. I'm sure it will sound better with the advanced sound codecs on blu ray. However, will the HDMI connections (PS3 and cable box) improve the general sound (HDTV, DTS, 5.1, etc) over my current optical and digital coax connections? I haven't rented many blu rays. If the only sound improvement is with the advanced codecs and blu ray, I may not open the box and sell it brand new on ebay. Thanks.
