BingY
I just bought a pair of used KG3 speakers. The speakers sound good except a bit harsh on the high end. I put them side by side and listen to them carefully. I found that one tweeter sounds louder and harsher than the other one. I took the harsher one apart and could not see any problem. The diaphram is black in color. It looks very much like a fabric dome tweeter diaphram. There are a lot of oil in the magnet gap. Oil is also visible at the bottom of the diaphram plate. I suspect that the oil was pushed out of the gap when the coil was inserted. Since the good one sounds so nice, I was tempting to replace the diaphram of the harsher one. However, I would like to hear the opinions from forum members first. Is it common to have tweeters sound different?
kg4guy
I would contact Bob Crites for new diaphrams I would also get his titanium diaphrams as they are a nice upgrade and only around $50. for the pair.He can also inform you if there is another problem with your tweeter.[]
